Welcome to the Southern Shootout Homepage.
The Southern Shootout is a competitive high school soccer tournament. Each year the tournament hosts boys' and girls' teams from around the state of Alabama. The tournament this year is conducted by St. Pauls School and Fairhope High School. Download a registration form here.
A Quick History For our first two years, the Shootout was hosted in Bay Minette, Alabama by Baldwin County High School. Then in 2005 it moved to a different venue with St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama serving as the host. In 2006, the Boys' tournament returned to Bay Minette and with Baldwin County High School serving as co-host along with St. Paul's Episcopal School. In 2007 the tournament was played on both sides of Mobile Bay: the boys on the Eastern Shores and the girls in Mobile.
In 2008, the girls tournament returned to the Eastern Shore and the boys tourney was played on both sides of the bay. For the 2nd year in a row, the finals came down to a shootout. This year Benjamin Russell and Spanish Fort took a 1-1 tie through regulation and two OT periods before deciding the Girls Gold Champion by KFTM. Congratulations are due to both teams for outstanding play and good sportsmanship! For more information about the tournament, please contact charrelson@stpaulsmobile.net |
